The energy crisis that occurred in the beginning of the past decade also kicked off a rise in oil sector of Turkey. In this context, people who graduated from Oil and Gas Engineering Departments in 2000s have had more chance to find a job in the sector than 1990s’ graduates. Numerous graduates of 1990s worked in other professions have tried their chance again and some of them additionally come back to drilling or to production or in other words to work in the petroleum industry.
Back to 90s, oil firms only had their representative offices in Turkey. However, today tens of them are also doing oil business and engineering: Every drop of oil is tried to be sucked out of reservoir with the increasing workforce of the Turkish PNG sector. While 20 wells were drilled per annum in 1999 and 2000, today there are 20 drilling rigs actively operating at the same time through whole year.
Me and the new board of directors were elected in this environment and we realized that there are lots of work to do for oil and for SPE. This new website is just a beginning of our future plans and prospective activities. Moreover, we know the importance of communication and we believe this website will help us to enhance our collaboration. Plans of using this site for career opportunities ahead, thus senior students will stick better to us.
