He holds BSc, MSc and PhD degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from the Middle East Technical University. He had worked as a research & teaching assistant between 2004-2013. He had also been to the Penn State University in USA in the academic year 2009-2010 during the doctoral studies as an exchange visitor. He has been working as an Energy and Natural Resources expert in the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in Turkey.
His interest areas are enhanced oil recovery, solid fuel combustion, CO2 sequestration, and alternative hydrocarbon resources.
Emre Özgür was the board member of the Chamber of Petrolem engineers in Turkey between 2012-2018. He was also a delegate of Turkey in International Energy Agency and is the delegate of Turkey in Global Methane Initiative currently.
